
2008 SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS:
Registration / Packet Pick-up: Saturday September 13th from 3-6 pm.
This will take place on Saturday from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Wingate. The Wingate is located on Route 9L and Stanton. From Exit 21- turn left onto Route 9 at light and right at next light onto Route 9L. The Wingate will be on your left behind Rite Aid and across the street from Waterslide World.
The run course is behind the hotel on Stanton Road. All racers will need to bring a photo ID, no exceptions! If you are a USAT member, please bring your card or you will need to purchase a 1 day license for $10. ALL Members from a TEAM entry need to be present and show ID – NO EXCEPTIONS!
Race materials will consist of a helmet sticker to be placed on the front of your helmet, race number for your bike and for the run (safety pins to attach to your shirt if you don’t have a race belt). Your running bib will need to be scanned when you pick up your timing chip on Sunday. Your swim cap will be in the packet. We will also be body marking on Saturday as well. New this year is a race bracelet. It must be worn to enter the transition area and the food tent.
Pre-Race Meeting
There will be a pre-race meeting at 6:15pm on Saturday at the Transition Area of the Race Site! The meeting will go over all aspects of the course and of course the USAT rules. Click here (http://www.usatriathlon.org/Rules_Officials/rules.htm) to view the complete rules. We will be raffling off an Xterra Wetsuit, but only if you have picked up your race packet!
Parking – Race Day
There will be parking available in the parking lot of Million Dollar Beach (Lake George Beach). There will be a section that will remain closed for use only by those using the boat launch. It will be clearly marked. Please follow the signs and volunteers. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is also opening the overflow parking lot located behind the regular lot on Beach Rd. There will no parking fees. The lots are about 500 yards from the transition area. The lot will open just after 5:30am on race day. Parking will be available on West Brook Road. There is no parking on Beach Road!
Race Day Packet Pick-up
Available at the race site from 6 a.m to 7:30 a.m SHARP!! Race starts @ 8:30am.
Transition Area
Transition will open at 6:00am on race day. ***Please make sure that you have your bar ends capped or plugged. As per USAT rules they must be covered in order to enter the transition area. If they are not covered you may not enter the transition area.
Chip Pick-up
You can pick up your chips at the Score-This timing table. Remember to bring your running bib to get it scanned when you pick up your chip. Score-This will be providing timing for the event. If you have your own neoprene band for the chip you may wear. You can also use your own timing chip if you have it – please bring it to the scoring table. Your timing chips will need to be retrieved at the finish line. Please be patient or help us remove the chips after you cross the line…
Bathrooms
We are going to have porta-potties and a handicap porta-potty at the transition area. We are going to put 2 inside the transition area. The others will be near the transition area. The locker rooms at Million Dollar Beach will be opened at 6am. Also the restrooms there can be used at any point during the day.
Swim
Waves will be determined one week prior to race
Keep the buoys to your left. We swim a counterclockwise rectangle. Exit at carpeted path and cross the street to the transition area… We have a couple special buoys out there this year. Remember this is triathlon and it is FUN!
Bike Route
Remember – *No Drafting. There will be race officials on the course.
Run
The run course is spectator friendly and has some hills, downhills and flats. It will finish on the battlefield grass near the transition area.
Awards
The awards will be begin at Noon followed by raffle for wheels (if everyone is off the course)
Post Race Food
We will have plenty of water, some Gatorade and lots of Pizza from Antonio’s Pizza Place in Glens Falls and trays and trays of Subs from Quizno’s Subs in Lake George. There will also be some fruit, bagels and maybe even some donuts. Food is for race participants only and you must have your race bracelet on in order to enter the food tent.
Spectators
Spectator parking is located all over Lake George. If you have family and friends coming to watch the race, there are plenty of opportunities for them to see you.
NO SPRAY PAINT ON THE ROADS PLEASE!!!
Spectators are welcome to watch the swim start from anywhere along the shore. Million Dollar Beach will be open for boat launching, but not swimming. Please be patient with us in allowing spectators to move across Beach Road. Our number one priority is safety for both race participants and specators. The road is open to traffic, but will be controlled by the sheriff department. Please keep in mind that racers enter transition from the swim and will exit for the bike on Beach Road…
